Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks a Data Engineer to build and operate reliable data pipelines in AWS, turning test and performance data into accessible, traceable datasets for analysis. Collaboration with Test, Performance, Controls, and IT ensures context-rich data products.

The role emphasizes lineage, data quality, and controlled replay while connecting test results to engines, builds, and components for business and manufacturing data platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience building and supporting production data pipelines on AWS (S3, processing/orchestration/monitoring services).
• Strong Python and SQL skills with handling large files/time-series engineering data.
• Understanding of incremental processing, idempotency and data quality controls.
• Experience with Git, code review, testing and repeatable deployments; IaC and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to translate engineering requirements into data contracts and testable acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate data ingestion pipelines for dyno, test, instrumentation and performance sources.
• Preserve source context: timestamps, units, calibration references and run identifiers.
• Develop datasets/pipelines in Python/SQL with validation and controlled replay.
• Link test runs to engine/build/component identities and ensure traceable mappings.
• Publish test/performance summaries from AWS for business and manufacturing data platforms.
• Monitor data freshness, pipeline failures and cloud costs; optimize storage/compute.
• Document pipelines and recovery procedures; train deputies and support incident response.
