Job summary

Test Engineer II, Performance Automation at Cypress HCM in Plano, TX is a 12‑month contract. The role is 100% onsite, five days a week, with a schedule of roughly 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Pay rate is $50 to $65 per hour.

You will design, build, execute, and analyze performance tests for APIs, web apps, and backend services, focusing on production traffic modeling, bottleneck identification, and improvements in scalability using k6 as the primary tool and JMeter as a secondary option.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 to 12 years of overall software testing, engineering, or related experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience in performance testing.
• 3 to 5 years of practical experience using k6.
• Deep knowledge of k6 and JMeter.
• Experience building and maintaining performance test scripts.
• Experience testing APIs across different architectures, web applications, and backend services.
• Ability to design and execute load, stress, endurance, soak, spike, and scalability tests.
• Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, cookies, sessions, headers, and authentication.
• Ability to interpret response-time, throughput, error-rate, CPU, memory, and latency metrics.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized applications, including environments such as Amazon EKS.
• Scripting experience with JavaScript, Groovy, or Python.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain performance test scripts using k6 as the primary tool and JMeter as the secondary tool
• Design and execute load, stress, spike, soak, endurance, and scalability tests
• Test APIs, web applications, backend services, and distributed systems
• Translate production traffic patterns into realistic performance-testing scenarios
• Define performance requirements, service-level objectives, success criteria, and test strategies
• Analyze response times, throughput, latency percentiles, error rates, CPU utilization, memory consumption, and other system metrics
• Identify performance bottlenecks and collaborate with development, infrastructure, and application teams on troubleshooting and remediation
• Analyze application logs, platform metrics, and monitoring data
• Create clear performance test reports, findings, and recommendations
• Support benchmarking and capacity-planning efforts
• Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Test applications deployed in Kubernetes and other containerized environments
• Communicate findings clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
