Job summary

Baltimore School of Music in Maryland is seeking an enthusiastic Percussion Teacher to join our faculty for a part-time, W-2 position. The schedule includes 2-3 teaching days per week, with late afternoon to evening hours Monday-Thursday and Saturday.

Pay is $30-$35 per teaching hour, based on education and teaching experience, plus benefits. We offer PTO accrual, SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with employer contributions after eligibility, scheduling and support, and ongoing referrals to grow your

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent teaching experience preferred.
  • Private percussion teaching experience.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to different ages and abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable availability during scheduled teaching days.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging private percussion instruction to children, teens, and adults.
  • Teach 30-, 45-, and 60-minute lessons tailored to each student’s experience, interests, and goals.
  • Help students develop technique, rhythm, music-reading skills, and musicianship.
  • Prepare students for recitals, auditions, and other performance opportunities.
  • Build positive relationships with students and families that support long-term musical growth.
  • Encourage participation in recitals and other school programs that enrich the student experience.
  • Maintain accurate lesson notes and communicate student progress when appropriate.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, recitals, and other school activities as requested.

Position: Percussion Teacher
Job Type: Part-Time, W-2 Employee
Schedule: 2-3 teaching days per week. Available teaching hours are Monday-Thursday, 2:00-8:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Teaching days are selected based on teacher availability and school scheduling needs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent professional teaching experience preferred; current college students pursuing a degree in music are encouraged to apply
  • Previous private percussion teaching experience
  • Strong percussion performance skills
  • Ability to adapt instruction to students of different ages, abilities, and musical interests
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for teaching and helping students grow as musicians
  • Reliable availability during scheduled teaching days
  • Authorization to work in the United States
