Job summary

The Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Scientist to coordinate and conduct research on autism, communication, and consciousness. Qualifications

• Requires a doctoral degree or master's degree with significant experience.
• Preferred Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Psychiatry, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, or closely related discipline.
• Experience conducting human subjects research, research design, data management, and statistical analysis.
• Project management experience and strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate data collection.
• Ensure compliance with IRB requirements and maintain regulatory documentation.
• Oversee collection and management of behavioral, qualitative, and eye-tracking data.
• Perform data cleaning, coding, QA, statistical analyses, and interpretation of findings.
• Prepare manuscripts, conference presentations, technical reports, and grant progress reports.
• Assist with grant proposals and funding applications.
• Collaborate with investigators, clinicians, communication therapists, and external partners.
• Participate in weekly meetings and contribute to the Division's research mission.
