Job summary

The role blends software and hardware collaboration and requires strong communication across teams. Ideal candidates have an advanced degree or equivalent hands-on experience, with Python or similar languages, and a track record in robotics or perception.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering or related field OR 4 years of practical experience involving perception or robotic systems.
• Experience in software engineering for simulation and data evaluation using Python or other high level language.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders while communicating clearly in writing.

Responsibilities

• Use perception knowledge to propose requirements based on statistical, risk-based arguments.
• Lead qualification of perception software systems in Waymo's driver software release.
• Drive consensus on requirements within software and hardware teams.
• Develop reusable analysis tools based on simulation and fleet data.
