Job description
Overview

We are seeking a Perception Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing perception systems for our autonomous surface vessels. You will work on the forefront of technology, applying your expertise in computer vision, machine learning, and sensor fusion to create robust and reliable perception solutions that enable our ASVs to navigate and make critical decisions in complex maritime environments.

Qualifications

We need someone with a strong background in computer vision, machine learning, and sensor fusion, ideally with experience in complex systems. You should be comfortable developing and optimizing algorithms for object detection, classification, tracking, and scene understanding, and have a track record of implementing real-time data processing pipelines. Bonus points if you have experience with maritime or autonomous vehicle projects, signals processing, or low latency inference and tracking pipelines. We are looking for individuals who are hands-on coders and can contribute across the entire perception stack.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize computer vision and machine learning algorithms for object detection, classification, tracking, and scene understanding.
  • Integrate data from a variety of sensors, such as cameras, LiDAR, radar, and GPS, to provide a comprehensive perception system for ASVs.
  • Implement real-time data processing pipelines to ensure rapid and accurate perception feedback to the ASV's control system.
  • Collaborate with data annotation teams to create labeled datasets for training and validation of perception algorithms.
  • Optimize perception algorithms for efficient use of computational resources, ensuring they meet the real-time requirements of autonomous navigation.
  • Conduct extensive testing and validation of perception systems in simulated and real-world maritime environments, identifying and addressing issues as they arise.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of perception software, including code, algorithms, and test results.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware engineers, control engineers, and navigation experts, to integrate perception systems into the ASVs.
  • Keep abreast of the latest advancements in computer vision, sensor technologies, and machine learning to continually improve and adapt perception systems.
