Job summary

Together for Youth seeks a dedicated youth worker to support welfare, safety, and meal prep for youths in our program. You will model positive behavior, provide counseling, and ensure youth participation in scheduled activities.

The role requires experience with youth, flexibility in schedule, and the ability to work with diverse populations. A valid driver's license and safety certifications are preferred to support program operations.

Qualifications

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year+ experience working with youth and families.
  • Associates Degree can substitute for the 1-year experience (Human Services or related field).
  • Experience with at risk youth in detention/residential facility preferred.
  • Certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and First Aid/CPR on-the-job training.
  • Flexible schedule with variable hours including day, evening, weekend and holidays.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to coordinate travel for visits/appointments.
  • Ability to work with economically and culturally diverse populations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Account for welfare and well-being of youth at all times. Model appropriate behavior standards for youths. Must maintain visual sight of youth in program.
  • Counsel youth on individual and group basis to assist with adjustment/transition to program. Ensure youth follow and participate in program schedules. Communicate any concerns with youth are brought to the attention of program leadership.
  • Assist with daily meal preparation.
  • Assist with security and safety of youth and facility.
  • Adheres to agency policies and procedures; follows and supports agency mission, vision and values including participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of High School/GED required.
  • 1 year + experience working with youth and families required;
    • Associates Degree can be substituted for the 1-year experience. (Human Services for related field)
  • Experience working with at risk youth in detention/residential facility preferred.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training for Certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and First Aid/CPR certification following on-the-job training.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule with variable hours including day, evening, weekend, holiday and subject to call hours.
  • Valid Driver's License, with acceptable driving history to the Agency Travel is required. Ability to coordinate and plan travel for visits and appointments in efficient manner.
  • Ability to work with economically and culturally diverse population.
