Job Description

Under the supervision of licensed physicians and the Radiology Supervisor, performs routine radiologic and fluoroscopic examinations according to departmental policies and procedures. Responsibilities include setting up, adjusting, and operating x-ray equipment, properly positioning and immobilizing patients, and responding to patient needs. Maintains equipment cleanliness and ensures proper operation. Provides care to patients of all ages during diagnostic testing.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients and examination areas for radiological and fluoroscopic exams, including skeletal, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and chest tests. May include mammograms and venograms based on training and certification.
  • Operate and adjust x-ray equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed. Assist radiologists during procedures and transport mobile x-ray units.
  • Record and document examination results in RIS and PACS systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Support scheduling, transportation, and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Troubleshoot routine equipment issues and seek technical assistance when needed.
  • Perform or assist with specialized examinations as permitted by experience or certification.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines to protect patients and staff from radiation and electrical hazards.
  • Assist in training and orientation of new staff or students, and participate in quality assurance activities.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent in radiological technology from an accredited program (JRCERT).
  • Licensure by the New York State Department of Health as a Radiologic Technologist. ARRT certification may be required for certain specialties.
  • Minimum six months' experience preferred; new technicians require a 30-day orientation period.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, manual dexterity, and physical strength skills.

Compensation
