Per-Diem Transporter- South Lake Hospital

Position Summary

This self-motivated Team Member must possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting across multiple departments. Effective communication with patients, visitors, and internal staff using appropriate scripting and engagement techniques is essential.

• Facility: South Lake Hospital
• Location: Clermont, Florida
• Type: Pool
• Shift: Night shift - Friday-Sunday (4pm-2:30am)

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Transport patients safely and efficiently within the hospital, assessing the best method for each patient.
• Communicate vital patient information to relevant departments and team members.
• Meet individual productivity standards.
• Transport charts and specimens confidentially and efficiently.
• Maintain transportation equipment, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation.
• Use Allscripts Transport Tracking systems effectively.
• Provide outstanding customer service aligned with Orlando Health's mission and values.
• Inform departments of delays and assist in safety hazard prevention.
• Handle oxygen tanks and telemetry units safely and according to protocol.
• Adhere to hospital policies on safety, dress code, attendance, and confidentiality.
• Assist in equipment distribution, cleaning, and restocking.
• Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and chemotherapy drugs).
• Maintain punctual attendance per hospital policies and regulations.

Other Related Functions

• Follow safety standards, MSDS, and hygiene directives.
• Complete mandatory training and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Seek continuous service and process improvements.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Ability to recognize similarities and differences in words and numbers.
• Basic writing and communication skills.
• Competence in using department computer systems like TeleTracking, Outlook, and Allscripts.
• Complete required educational training.

Licensure/Certification

• CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association, renewed biennially.

Experience

• Experience in patient care or customer service roles.
