Job summary

View Behavioral Health LLC in Long Beach, CA seeks a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) per diem. Plan, develop, and implement evidence-based recreation therapy, using APIE to tailor interventions.

Role involves supervising RT internships and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team. Requirements include NCTRC certification, a relevant Bachelor's degree, 2 years’ inpatient behavioral health experience, and ability to document accurately.

Qualifications

• NCTRC Certification.
• Bachelor's degree in occupational, therapeutic recreation, art, music, or drama therapy required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of direct service experience in acute behavioral health inpatient settings.
• Proficiency with computers and data entry/electronic documentation.
• Current CPR, BLS, and First Aid certification or able to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coach, train, and sign off on RT Internship hours.
• Ensure all documentation meets facility, state, and NCTRC standards.
• Monitor patients' safety during hygiene and activity groups.
• Conduct activity groups and services of the Recreation Therapy Treatment Program, including assessments, group notes, 1:1 sessions, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
• Maintain quality verbal and written reporting of patient involvement and progress.
• Coordinate treatment and unit activities with other programs and multidisciplinary staff.
• Represent Recreation Therapy on facility committees and with patients' families.
• Document admissions, discharges, group participation, and complete screenings and treatment plan interventions.
