Job summary

Position Title: Surgical Technologist (Orthopedic Surgery)

Location: Millburn, NJ

Entity: Team MD

Reports To: ASC Manager

Alliance Health System works with the Team MD Surgery Center in Millburn, and is seeking a Surgical Technologist experienced in orthopedics, pain management, spinal surgery, podiatry, and vascular specialties to join our ASC team. The Surgical Technologist will effectively assist the surgeon during procedures. To be successful in this role, the Surgical Technologist must deliver exceptional service as well as prepare patients, rooms and equipment for pending surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of an orthopedic setting.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and sterile fields for surgical procedures.
• Ensure surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and functioning properly.
• Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile technique.
• Perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse.
• Handle specimens and assist with patient positioning and room turnover.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Adheres to standards of patient care within the framework of the standards of the ASC.
• Maintains surgeon preference case data and instrument and equipment inventory.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential preferred or eligibility to obtain certification
• Current BLS certification
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills. Additional languages are a plus.
• 1+ year(s) experience operating room or ambulatory surgery center experience preferred.
• Experience in orthopedic, pain management, spine, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, or multi-specialty procedures is a plus.
