Southeast Health, affiliated with the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM), seeks Standardized Patient (SP) volunteers for per diem Day Shift roles. SPs train to portray patients in clinical encounters, helping medical students learn data gathering, humanistic care, and physical examinations.

You will memorize scripts, provide feedback, and maintain professional interactions in didactic sessions and labs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and some college coursework; performing arts/theatre experience may substitute.
• Strong memorization skills to recall scripts and prompts.
• Friendly personality with a positive attitude and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Portray a role consistently and accurately as trained by SP staff.
• Interact professionally with students, faculty, SPs, and staff.
• Receive ongoing feedback to adjust performance behaviors.
• Attend and be on time for scheduled cases and assessments.
• Memorize scripts ahead of training sessions and use them effectively.
• Provide honest written/verbal feedback to students as needed.
• Monitor other SPs for quality and report inconsistencies.
• Show flexibility and reliability with scheduling and assignments.
