Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Mammography/Ultrasound Technologist to perform ultrasound scans to aid physicians in diagnosing injury and disease for patients of all ages, under general supervision of the Mammography/Ultrasound Supervisor. This role includes related clerical and service duties.

Under general supervision, you will obtain patient history, position patients, operate equipment, ensure safety, and document work in HIS/RIS/PACS while maintaining QA and equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in medical imaging or health-related field.
• ARDMS registration or registry eligible; no Massachusetts work restrictions.
• Additional registration in vascular, breast, gynecology, abdominal.
• BLS healthcare provider certification before 90 day probation.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records patient clinical information and history; adjusts imaging to patient size, age, or condition.
• Assists, transfers and positions patients; selects appropriate scan parameters.
• Processes and records scanned images per Radiologist protocol; reviews scans with Radiologists; documents work in HIS/RIS/PACS.
• Checks operation of equipment; maintains QA and cleanliness; ensures safety and infection control.
• Keeps up to date with ultrasound field changes; maintains yearly competency in disinfection procedures; assists in other modalities as needed.
