Job summary

Florida Kidney Physicians (FKP) – Brandon Surgical Center in Brandon, FL is seeking a Per Diem Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) to join our vascular access team. This position offers Monday–Friday daytime hours with no nights, weekends, or major holidays.

You will prepare rooms and instruments, scrub with physicians, maintain a sterile field, and support patient scheduling and discharge activities. Per diem flexibility allows caregiver alignment while contributing to high-quality kidney care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of operating room or surgical technologist experience.
• Sterile Processing (SPD) experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Basic computer proficiency (Outlook and Word).
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced procedural environment.
• Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining high patient care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for vascular access procedures.
• Position and prepare patients for procedures while ensuring comfort and safety.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout each procedure.
• Scrub in and assist physicians during vascular access procedures by passing instruments.
• Monitor sterile field and report any break in sterile technique.
• Perform surgical counts with the nurse or radiologic technologist.
• Track medications and supplies used during each case.
• Operate sterilization and diagnostic equipment per protocols.
• Clean, disinfect, and restock rooms after each case.
• Transport patients to/from rooms; assist with scheduling and discharge when appropriate.
• Maintain documentation and safeguard patient confidentiality.
• Participate in community education initiatives and other duties as assigned.
