Job summary

Greenwich Public Schools in Greenwich, CT seeks a Substitute/Per Diem School Nurse to provide temporary health care in the school setting. The nurse works under the School Health Supervisor to support students’ physical and mental well-being using nursing skills and public health practices.

Responsibilities include well child care, emergency management, health screenings, immunizations, and coordination with families and school staff.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Nursing Diploma from a credentialed School of Nursing with 5+ years in pediatrics or public health, or an Associate's degree with 2+ years in pediatrics or school health, or a Bachelor’s degree with 1+ year in school health.
• Special requirement: CT RN license and current CPR certification prior to appointment date.

Responsibilities

• Offers and delivers comprehensive well child care to school age children.
• Assesses illness severity and determines referrals to other resources as needed.
• Manages childhood emergencies until additional help is available and participates in school health planning.
• Collaborates with professionals to implement and evaluate nursing care plans and administers prescribed treatments.
• Maintains health records, conducts screenings, immunizations, and home visits as deemed necessary.
