Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a RN to provide skilled nursing care in the Preoperative Care Center and Perianesthesia Area for patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role supports multiple surgical specialties and requires autonomy within ANA standards.

The position is per diem with 10-hour shifts, Monday–Friday, at Hillcrest, with a 20% appointment. Prior ICU experience and active California RN licensure are essential, along with BLS/CPR and ACLS; PALS within the first year is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
• PALS (must be obtained during 1st year of employment for new employees).
• Must have at least two (2) years of recent acute care ICU nursing experience.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Care in Preoperative Care Center and Perianesthesia Area.
• Autonomous nursing care within ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient-centered care.
• Support a wide range of surgical services including Neurology, Orthopedics, Urology, Plastics, General, Oncology, Head and Neck, Vascular, Open Heart, Gynecology.
