UCLA Health is seeking a Per Diem RN for the Patient Flow Command Center in Westwood, Los Angeles. The role supports timely patient throughput, transfer processing, and bed management across UCLA Health campuses.

The RN must hold a California license with strong clinical judgment, teamwork and communication skills. EPIC bed-management experience is desirable, with rotating 12-hour day/evening shifts.

Qualifications

• RN with California license is required.
• Experience in patient flow, bed management or clinical operations preferred.
• EPIC EHR (bed-management module) proficiency desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient throughput for elective and urgent admissions and transfers across UCLA Health campuses.
• Review and process transfer requests from outside hospitals.
• Collaborate with physicians, leadership, nursing supervisors and support services to enable safe patient placement.
• Develop expertise in UCLA CareConnect EPIC bed-management system to support efficient bed management.
• Demonstrate clinical judgment, communication, professionalism, adaptability and commitment to patient throughput and safety.

Work Hours: Rotating – 12 hr Day (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) & Evening noon-midnight shifts

Employment Type: 6 – Staff, Per Diem

Salary Range: $96.74 – $96.74 Hourly

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support timely patient throughput for elective and urgent admissions, interfacility transfers, and direct admissions across all UCLA Health campuses.
• Perform clinical review, coordination, and processing of transfer requests from outside hospitals.
• Collaborate with referring and accepting physicians, executive leadership, nursing supervisors, patient experience, and hospital support services to facilitate safe and efficient patient placement.
• Develop expertise in the UCLA CareConnect EPIC EHR bed‑management system and work with nursing leadership, management, and multidisciplinary teams to support a systematic approach to patient flow and bed management that promotes operational efficiency and a positive patient experience.
• Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to organizational goals related to patient throughput, patient safety, access to care, and quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid California nursing license.
• Experience in patient flow, bed management, or related clinical operations preferred.
• Proficiency with EPIC EHR (bed‑management module) desirable.

Potential to convert to Career Salary: $96.74 – $96.74 Hourly.
