Overview

Directs and supervises the nursing care and all related activities on the unit, assigned according to the policies and procedures of Grimes Center and the State and Federal agents.

Responsibilities
  1. Supervision and Compliance
    • Follows established standards of nursing practices and implements facility policies and procedures.
    • Interprets policies and procedures to staff, residents, families, and physicians.
    • Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
  2. Resident Care and Reporting
    • Obtains reports from incoming nurses and provides comprehensive reports to outgoing nurses.
    • Conducts resident rounds, directs care, and reports changes promptly.
  3. Supervision of Staff
    • Supervises and evaluates resident care, assigns duties, and explains care procedures.
    • Provides clinical supervision to CNAs and LPNs, assessing patient data.
  4. Clinical Skills
    • Performs basic nursing skills, including medication administration, treatments, and documentation.
    • Coordinates admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  5. Assessment and Documentation
    • Performs comprehensive resident assessments and develops care plans.
    • Documents medication administration, treatments, and resident progress accurately.
  6. Staff Development and Safety
    • Counsels staff, participates in evaluations, checks emergency equipment, and ensures safety protocols.
  7. Communication and Teamwork
    • Works cooperatively with team members, welcomes new staff and residents, and maintains professional appearance and punctuality.
  8. Chaperone Responsibilities
    • Chaperones patients during appointments and procedures as needed.
Qualifications

Education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or Science preferred.

Experience: At least one year in rehabilitative, psychiatric, or geriatric nursing preferred.

Licensure: Registered Nurse licensed in Connecticut.

Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain standards of care according to regulations.
