Job summary

The Long Island State Veterans Home, affiliated with Stony Brook University, is seeking a Per Diem Respiratory Therapist to perform a range of respiratory care procedures under supervision. The role involves oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, arterial blood gas sampling, and patient care, with emphasis on safety and documentation.

The position requires completing an AMA-approved RT program (AAS or certificate) with several years of experience and readiness to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

• AAS in RT, RRT or certificate of completion from AMA approved therapist level RT program and three years experience.
• AAS in RT or certificate of completion from AMA approved therapist level RT program, five years experience, and CRTT.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, maintain and monitor oxygen administration and tracheostomy care.
• Administer and monitor aerosol therapy and humidification.
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis using co-oximeters and tonometers.
• Maintain department records, logs and progress notes in the patient chart.
• Transport and sterilize respiratory therapy equipment and manage supplies.
