Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) in a Stepdown Unit cares for patients who are stable but require close monitoring after intensive care. Responsibilities include frequent vital sign monitoring, administering medications, managing IVs, and recognizing early signs of patient deterioration. The RN works closely with the care team to support recovery and prevent complications. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills are essential.

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients and their families. Maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health, within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model, and in collaboration with other caregivers.
