Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Inpatient Pre-Op & PACU team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. This Per-Diem role offers exposure to adult and pediatric surgical patients in a high-acuity setting, collaborating with surgeons and anesthesia teams to provide comprehensive perioperative care.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience; ED/ICU/Intercare/IMC strongly preferred.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Inpatient Pre-Op & PACU team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Pre-Op & PACU provides specialized care for both adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perioperative staff, and interdisciplinary care teams to deliver exceptional patient care throughout the surgical experience.

The Registered Nurse role offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment supporting the main Level I Trauma Center operating rooms while providing expert pre-operative preparation and post-anesthesia recovery care. This position allows nurses to expand their clinical expertise while collaborating with a highly experienced team committed to patient-centered care and outstanding outcomes.

The Registered Nurse Will:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for adult and pediatric surgical patients.


• Prepare patients and families for surgical procedures through education and clinical assessment.


• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care and monitor patients for changes in condition.


• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, high-quality care.

• Hours: Scheduling is managed by the Unit Manager based on unit needs


• Schedule: 4 shifts per 6-week per iod (or shifts equivalent to 48 hours)


• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts per 6-week per iod (or shifts equivalent to 24 hours)


• On-Call Requirement: As applicable
