Job Description

The (Per Diem) Reg Respiratory Therapistis responsible for delivery of respiratory treatment to patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Under the supervision of the treating physician, renders treatment, performs diagnostic tests, and reports any adverse reactions and other concerns. Ensures respiratory test equipment is in proper working order.

Responsibilities

  • Provides respiratory care therapeutic to patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Observes patient and reports any adverse treatment reactions to physician.
  • Ensures setup and proper working order of respiratory therapy equipment, including respirators, nebulizers, etc. Adjusts equipment and makes minor repairs within scope of competence and reports the need for intervention/repair as necessary. Cleans and sterilizes equipment.
  • Performs diagnostic tests under physicians supervision.
  • Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Assists patient caregivers/family members in use and care of respiratory therapy equipment.
  • Participates in in-service and other training programs.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

Associates degree in an approved program in Respiratory Therapy.

RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)

Experience Requirements

1 year minimum related experience.

Licensing and Certification Requirements BCLS and ACLS (Adults) or PALS and NRP (Pediatrics)

Respiratory Therapist from DOH/Office of Professions

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $60.00 - $60.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
