Description

The (Per Diem) Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering respiratory treatment to patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Under the supervision of the treating physician, they render treatment, perform diagnostic tests, and report any adverse reactions and concerns. They ensure respiratory test equipment is in proper working order.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care therapy to patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Observe patients and report adverse reactions to the physician.
• Ensure setup and proper functioning of respiratory therapy equipment, including respirators, nebulizers, etc. Adjust equipment and perform minor repairs within scope of competence, reporting the need for intervention/repair as necessary. Clean and sterilize equipment.
• Perform diagnostic tests under physician supervision.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Assist patient caregivers and family members in the use and care of respiratory therapy equipment.
• Participate in in-service and training programs.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

Associate's degree in an approved Respiratory Therapy program.

RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)

CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)

Experience Requirements

Minimum 1 year related experience.

Licensing and Certification

Respiratory Therapist licensed by DOH/Office of Professions.

Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
