A leading healthcare provider in New York is seeking a Psychiatrist to deliver mental health care within the jail system. The role involves providing evaluations, treatment, and supervision of staff while ensuring comprehensive care for patients with serious mental illnesses. Employed by PAGNY for The Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) of New York City Health + Hospitals (H+H), this role involves delivering medical care, mental health care, and discharge planning within the jail system. Approximately 25% of new admissions to the NYC jail system annually will receive care from this service. It aims to provide safe, holistic, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for diverse mental health issues, from serious mental illness to the natural struggles of incarceration. The service offers comprehensive treatment modalities, including specialty housing units, a 24-hour psychiatric service, creative arts programming, DBT training, clinics in each facility, substance use treatment, re-entry services, and collaborations with training institutions across the city.
This position is located on Rikers Island.
Schedule: Monday: 8am-4pm
