This position requires a graduate of an accredited nursing school with a BSN preferred and at least two years of acute care experience. The ideal candidate will possess a valid CT nursing license and PICC competency within six months.

Works under the patient care manager/clinical coordinator. The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and supervises individual patient care on a nursing unit according to policy and procedure.

Two years of acute care medical/surgical experience required. Previous intravenous therapy preferred. PICC competency is required within 6 months.
Valid state of CT nurse license
PICC insertion, responsible for implementation and documentation of IV therapy as directed by physician orders and established policies and procedures. Assesses patient for IV therapy needs and inserts appropriate vascular access device accordingly. Functions as a charge nurse. Demonstrates knowledge of central venous access devices and their maintenance. Demonstrates knowledge of mechanical controlling devices and blood/blood component therapy. Serves as an educational resource in IV therapy. Participates in maintaining quality/clinical indicators. Demonstrates competency in autologous donor selection/collection and therapeutic phlebotomy.
