Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a remote Physician Assistant to manage patient communications and support clinical tasks. The role requires strong triaging skills and a commitment to patient care, with an excellent benefits package offered. Join a leading institution dedicated to high-quality care and professional development.
The Physician Assistant (PA) works remotely as part of the team, handling indirect work within provider in-basket folders. Responsibilities include managing patient gateway messages, telephone calls, urgent refills, critical results, CC'd charts, and other tasks as time permits.
Telephone duties range from routine to emergent, often requiring prescription writing, lab or radiology orders, and interaction with PCPs or covering MDs for clinical support. The PA collaborates with medical assistants and nursing staff supporting indirect work, responding to messages, calls, and conducting virtual visits as needed.
The PA assists in covering in-basket items for multiple providers, especially during vacations or days off, reviewing all providers' in-basket folders as time allows. Prescription refills are managed for routine medications, excluding controlled substances, with specific protocols for labs and visits.
The role involves placing orders for testing, vaccines, referrals, or refills based on patient requests, ensuring clinical appropriateness. Initial in-person training occurs during the first three months, transitioning to fully remote work with periodic in-person days as needed.
We offer an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, subsidized MBTA passes, childcare resources, retirement plans, and employee discounts.
