Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

The Communications Operator works under the direct supervision of the Patient Registration Supervisor. The operator is responsible for the timely answering of the incoming telephone calls and proper routing of telephone communications. The operator shall be courteous with all patients, staff and visitors and work in a cooperative manner to fulfill the goals of the department and hospital.

Required Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• Experienced Typer with proper grammar and spelling
• Prior Customer Service Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
• Previous switchboard operator experience
• Knowledge of Health Care Industry / Insurance Contracts
• Computer Literacy and Skills
• High School Diploma or equivalent
