Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Patient Services Representative Associate on a per diem basis. You will be the first point of contact for patients, assisting with scheduling, registration, and financial counseling to help them access and navigate care.

This role offers day and evening shifts, per diem hours, and opportunities to mentor staff while supporting diverse patient populations and improving health outcomes.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of customer service experience.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work standard daytime hours, Monday-Friday during training and per diem shifts.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Greets and guides patients, directing them to appointments and procedures.
• Collects and verifies demographics, insurance, and benefits information.
• Presents cost information, collects co-pays and deductibles, and explains financial assistance options.
• Registers patients and handles paperwork and medical record requests as needed.
• Provides customer service for inbound/outbound calls and assists with scheduling add-on appointments.

Primary Responsibilities

Greets and welcomes patients in person, providing a friendly and supportive first impression while directing them to their appointments and proceduresCollects and verifies demographic, insurance, and benefits information, interpreting results and obtaining necessary signaturesChecks in and interviews patients to complete the required paperwork, including financial assistance applications and requests for information formsObtains and explains cost information to patients, collects co-pays and deductibles, and counsels' patients on available financial assistance programsAddresses and resolves claim issues or registration errors while documenting any issues and resolutions in the electronic medical recordUses resources, tools, and procedures to complete registration for accounts and assigned work queuesProvides customer service for inbound and outbound telephone calls, ensuring clear communication and prompt resolution of patient inquiriesAssists in scheduling add-on appointments as neededMay mentor other staff, provide technical or functional direction, and gather medical record information as neededOther duties as assigned, supporting the dynamic needs of the healthcare environment with flexibility and a commitment to patient careYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ months of customer service experience
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Ability to work standard daytime hours, Monday-Friday for the first 3 weeks after hire in alignment with the training schedule
• Ability to work on a per diem basis, day shift -or- evening shift. Variable based on business need. 8-hour shifts
• Must be 18 years of age or older

Pay

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
