• One year data entry and medical office experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, their families, and the public in a courteous, professional and polite manner.
• Interview patients or their representatives to obtain accurate demographic information.
• Enter demographic information into the hospital computer system for patient care and treatment to be initiated.
• Obtain patient financial data and, when required, pre-authorize for treatment.
• Prepare, process and route required paperwork for the patient’s chart/medical record.
• Emboss patient ID card and create patient labels as appropriate.
• Band patient with the appropriate ID band.
• Determine patient’s primary and secondary payor and enter data in the computer system.
• Adhere to applicable Federal and State regulations regarding Advance Directives for Healthcare Decisions and Patient Rights.
