Job summary

Sovereign Health systems is seeking a Registered Nurse to work in the PACU on a per diem basis in Somerset, NJ. The PACU nurse provides critical immediate postoperative care, monitoring vitals, airway status, and pain control.

You will collaborate with anesthesiologists and surgeons, manage postoperative complications, document care, and prepare patients for discharge or transfer to appropriate units while upholding safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Current NJ RN license and valid nursing credentials.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Experience in perioperative or critical care nursing.

Responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs and airway status in the immediate postoperative period.
• Administer medications and pain management as prescribed.
• Assess for postoperative complications and initiate timely interventions.
• Document status and communicate with surgical teams and families.
• Prepare patients for transfer or discharge.
• Maintain PACU safety and infection control practices.
