Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved nursing educational program as defined by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
• One year Perioperative experience preferred.
• Excellent physical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Positive affect, demonstrated leadership and time management skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language.
• Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assess/detect changes in human physiological conditions.
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast paced and stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• Delivers professional and technical nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards.
• Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the patient.
• Prepares equipment and assists physician during surgical procedures.
• Takes emergency call as assigned by the department head.
• Works assigned shifts but may be asked to work beyond the regular tour of duty as assigned by the department head or nursing supervisor.
