Per Diem/On-Call ECC/ICU Veterinary Technician (Dennis, MA)

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced veterinary technician to join our passionate and dedicated ECC team at our Dennis, MA, location on a per diem basis. About This Role

As a per diem technician, your primary responsibility will be to assist doctors and other team members in delivering the best possible care for each patient. You will be tasked with various duties, including triage, admission, hospitalization, and discharge of patients. During your tenure, you will acquire and use skills such as monitoring changes in vital signs, pain management, transfusion medicine, mechanical ventilation, and table cases.

Responsibilities and Functions
  1. Be available and ready for work when scheduled for open shifts or on-call.
  2. Perform emergency triage, obtain vital signs, collect medical histories, and document interactions, information, and observations using electronic medical records (EMRs).
  3. Assist in stabilizing critically ill patients as they arrive at the emergency room.
  4. Use technical skills to provide exceptional medical care, including venipuncture, placing IV catheters, and performing diagnostic imaging.
  5. Assist emergency clinicians with procedures by helping with induction, preparation, monitoring, and recovery.
  6. Provide advanced nursing to critically ill patients utilizing sophisticated technical skills, exceptional communication and advocacy, and compassionate care.
  7. Be a vital member of each patient's healthcare team through advocacy, collaboration, communication, and teamwork in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Schedule

This is a per diem position. You will choose your shifts based on your flexibility and hospital needs in collaboration with hospital leadership.

Education Qualifications
  1. Current CVT, LVT, or RVT, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months, is strongly preferred.
  2. VTS (ECC) preferred, or the desire to earn a specialization.
  3. RECOVER certified preferred.
Required Experience Qualifications
  1. Two years of veterinary ECC experience is required.
  2. Experience in anesthesia and monitoring of emergency procedures (such as wound repairs).
