Job summary

UCI Health in Orange and Irvine seeks a Clinical Nurse in the Float Pool to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, develop and implement care plans, and coordinate patient progress through the continuum of care. You will act as a role model and mentor to students and new nurses on the unit.

Qualified candidates hold a BSN, have at least 2 years of Critical Care/ICU experience, and are able to float between locations.

Qualifications

• Must float between Orange and Irvine locations as needed.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU experience.
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Licenses: Registered Nurse; Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

As part of the UCI Health Enterprise Float Pool, the clinical nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients, ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines and support staff. Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Will evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge and revise plan or make referrals as necessary. Acts as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit. Functions as a (PCC) Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

• Required to float between the Orange and Irvine locations as needed.
• Must possess and maintain appropriate certifications, (NRP, PALS, etc.) per unit assignment, as required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU experience
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
• Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
