Job summary

Spectrum Health Systems is hiring a Per Diem Outpatient Nurse in Weymouth, MA for the Outpatient Treatment Program. The role centers on administering medications, ensuring accurate onsite documentation, and educating clients about pharmacotherapy within a multidisciplinary team.

Required MA LPN or RN license with CPR certification (or within 90 days). Prior substance abuse/mental health or acute care experience is preferred. Per diem schedule; competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts LPN or RN license required.
• Current CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in emergencies.
• Clear written and verbal communication in a diverse, interdisciplinary setting.
• Experience in substance abuse/mental health or acute care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications to clients per medication administration policy.
• Control, count, and document onsite medications accurately.
• Educate clients on medication use, purpose, and side effects within treatment context.
• Verify medication orders with the physician and transcribe orders.
• Assist in admission processes and document substance use diagnoses as required.

TheOutpatient Nurseis responsible for

• Administering medication to clients as outlined in medication administration policy.
• The control, counting and appropriate documentation of onsite medication.
• Educating clients on use, purpose, side effects, and other information relating to medication assisted treatment.
• Verifying medication orders with the physician and transcribes physician’s orders.
• Assisting in the admission process and documents substance use diagnosis as required.

Qualifications

• Must be a Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.
• Must have a current CPR certificate or obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
• Must display the use of appropriate independent judgment to determine appropriate course of action in resolving problems and in emergencies.
• Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary, culturally diverse setting with clients, families, staff and regulatory agencies.
• Experience in substance abuse/mental health field or an acute care inpatient healthcare environment preferred.
