Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a per-diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform imaging procedures across the department, following radiology standards and safety guidelines. The role supports radiologists and clinicians and may involve training junior staff.

Hours are 7:00am–3:30pm, Tuesday through Friday, with garage parking options and shuttle service to Tufts Medical Center. MBTA access is available for commuting, and a diverse patient mix offers broad clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiology or related field.
• Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTCB) or (ARRT).
• Nuclear Medicine Technologist state license eligible.
• Four (4) years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience.
• Basic Life Support Certification.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform Nuclear Medicine procedures on patients per policy and standards.
• Verify patient and procedure to be performed.
• Provide clear and accurate instructions to patients.
• Verify and perform correct imaging protocol, steps, and scanner parameters.
• Ensure patient and staff safety for equipment used.
• Participate in ongoing education and training.
• Perform quality control on equipment and devices.
• Communicate with staff/departments to coordinate care.
• Maintain supply stock and request replenishment.
• Keep work areas clean per DPH and Joint Commission.
• Train and educate students and Technologists on procedures.

In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nuclear Medicine duties: Utilizes radiation detection to examine internal organ function and structure. A clinical technologist role that has specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, and experience. This role will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs. A senior level role requiring broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and requiring vocational or technical education. Works under limited supervision for routine situations, problems typically are not routine and require analysis to understand, provides assistance and/or may lead and train entry level employees and may lead daily operation activities.Job OverviewPerform Nuclear Medicine procedures on assigned patients according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Perform Nuclear Medicine procedures that follow radiological standards in a safe, accurate and timely manner, meet the American College of Radiology (ACR) imaging standards and allow the radiologist and/or physician to make a radiological diagnosis. Responsible for designated areas and/or procedures as assigned. Work cooperatively within departments and other service lines to create a system of quality health care. Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate radiology equipment.3. Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations, observe patients, read monitors and documents, and hear audible equipment alarms.4.
