Job summary

Boston Medical Center in Boston seeks a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to oversee patient care, monitor quality control, and prepare radiopharmaceuticals. Candidates must hold a relevant Bachelor's or Associate’s degree and be certified in Nuclear Medicine.

The ideal applicant will have experience in Molecular/Nuclear Imaging and excellent interpersonal skills to interact with patients and the healthcare team. The position offers a compensation of $49.88–$63.27 per hour along with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor's in science with a certificate in Nuclear Medicine Technology or Associate’s Degree with 2 years of experience.
  • Preferred experience in Molecular/Nuclear Imaging (SPECT/CT/PET/MR/Optical fusion Imaging).
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and medical terminology.

Job description

Position Summary
  • Empathetic and instructional approach to patient contact, care and monitoring.
  • Procurement, preparation, quality control, dispensing, dose calibration, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals and adjunct non-radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Administration of adjunct oral and IV medications and contrast under an authorized user’s direction.
  • Performance of quality control procedures.
  • Operation of imaging, laboratory, and computer instrumentation.
Job Requirements
  • Education: Requires a Bachelor’s of Science in a scientific field with a certificate in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited program OR an Associate’s Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited program plus 2 years of experience.
  • Experience: Preferred experience in Molecular/Nuclear Imaging (SPECT/CT/PET/MR/Optical fusion Imaging).
Certifications, Registrations & Licensures
  • Must be certified upon hire (or within the first year) and remain current in the following:
  • Current registration in Nuclear Medicine (NMTCB or ARRT (NM)).
  • At least one advanced certification and current registry: NMTCB(PET), NMTCB(NCT), ARRT(CT), or ARRT(MR).
  • Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License.
  • NIH Human Subjects Protection in Research Certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or CPR.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy and medical terminology, analytical skills to effectively utilize knowledge towards imaging processes, techniques and procedures. Working knowledge of Nuclear Medicine Information System (NMIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and Hospital Information Systems (HIS). Ability to rely on experience, judgment and time management skills to plan and accomplish goals. Positive, team‑oriented attitude and professional appearance. Ability to adhere to safety standards set by the Radiology Department, BMC and other regulatory agencies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, instruct students, and work cooperatively with staff and the healthcare delivery team. Ability to handle frequent interruptions, adapt to changes in workload, set priorities, solve problems and respond quickly to emergency requests.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Range: $49.88–$63.27 per hour.
