Qualifications

• 1 year of clinically oriented healthcare experience required.
• Cardiology experience, 1 year in EKG or stress testing required.
• PC experience with Windows-based medical software required.
• Medical terminology required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for stress testing (regular and nuclear medicine) with explanations of tests, risks, discharge instructions, places electrodes, assists monitoring, and processes paperwork.
• Prepares patients for Holter and Event monitor tests with clear instructions, places electrodes, bills tests on time, and records serials in HIS.
• Monitors patients in Cardiac-Pulmonary Rehab; operates related exercise equipment and tracks vital signs; can perform prescribed exercise routines.
• Performs 12-lead and rhythm strip EKGs; differentiates artifacts from rhythms; places electrodes; troubleshoots non-routine patients; obtains interpretations when requested; charts results and charges test.
• Accesses patient documents via HIS or Cardiology EKG management systems and maintains data accuracy.
• Maintains cleanliness of EKG carts, stress equipment, Holter and Event monitors.
• Safely operates all equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
• Cross-trains to other areas of Cardiology including invasive cardiology and rehab as appropriate.
• Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and development as outlined in reviews.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the department.
