Job description


Description

Operates specialized MRI imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images, as directed by physicians. Performs MRI studies of anatomical areas as ordered/directed, according to established standards and procedures.


Responsibilities

1. Performs MRI imaging procedures.
2. Applies the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and the patients’ needs.
3. Operates and/or prepares specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures.
4. Positions patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study.
5. Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures by informing the patient of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged and any specific instructions the patient may need.
6. Ensures all radiographic images are appropriately labeled as specified by the department SOP.
7. Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures images are transmitted to PACS in a timely fashion.
8. Ensures that all studies performed are completed in IDX (Radiology Information System) in a timely fashion.
9. Ensures Radiology room and equipment cleanliness, at the start and at the end of the shift, to include removal of soiled or dirty linen.
10. Scans patient related documents.
11. Maintains supplies and accessories in radiographic room necessary to safely perform duties, as required.
12. Accurately records all required patient tracking information into IDX (Radiology Information System).
13. Schedules exams into IDX (Radiology Information System) as required.
14. Informs supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions.
15. Assists physician directly as required.
16. Calls for in-patients as required.
17. Supervises radiology students assigned to his/her clinical area.
18. Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel.
19. Maintains safety standards via strict adherence to safety guidelines in order to prevent the introduction of ferromagnetic material into the scan room.
20. Protects self, patients, and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
21. Attends in-services and other professional development meetings as required.


Qualifications

Education Requirements
Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology.

Experience Requirements
Strong background in cross-sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and M.R. physics.

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62 - $62 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
