Universal Health Services' University Behavioral Center in Orlando seeks a Mental Health Tech to provide direct care to patients with psychiatric disorders, ensuring safety and well-being. This Per-Diem role offers flexible hours and is located on site in Orlando.

Responsibilities include assisting Admissions with intake and orientation, monitoring patient safety, documenting observations, handling belongings, safety screenings, and assisting with patient transport while applying de-escalation

Formación

• High School Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Two years experience working in a psychiatric setting.
• CPR (May be acquired after hire)
• Effective Oral and Written Communication Skills.

Responsabilidades

• Assist the Admissions team with the safe intake, reception, and orientation of patients entering the facility.
• Maintain continuous awareness of patient safety and behavior while patients are awaiting assessment, admission, or transfer.
• Conduct and document patient observations and safety checks in accordance with facility policies and assigned observation levels.
• Support Admissions staff with patient belongings procedures, including inventory and securing potentially unsafe or prohibited items according to facility policy.
• Assist with patient searches or safety screenings as permitted by policy, training, and applicable requirements.
• Provide a calm, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and families during the admissions process.
• Use approved verbal de-escalation and crisis-prevention techniques when patients demonstrate agitation, anxiety, or escalating behaviors.
• Promptly communicate changes in patient behavior, condition, or safety concerns to the appropriate nurse or clinical team member.
• Assist with patient transport and escort from Admissions to inpatient units or other designated areas while maintaining appropriate safety precautions.
