Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for a per diem float role across BIDHC sites, including Needham, Needham Heights, Wellesley, Dedham, and other locations. The MA will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a team-based model and support efficient clinical operations.

The role requires completing MA competencies within one year, high school diploma or GED, and a basic comfort with computer systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's in Health Science preferred.
• 0-1 years related work experience preferred.
• MA competencies within one year of hire.
• Basic familiarity with computers; basic navigation of web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop empathetic relationships with patients, families and colleagues to support patient care.
• Assist during visits: manage flow, inform delays, update lists, address visit reasons.
• Communicate clearly with patient and team; hand-off to provider.
• Perform MA duties under supervision: vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, immunizations.
• Lead population health outreach and basic health coaching.
• Maintain equipment and supplies with proper sterilization and storage.
• Queue prescriptions and enter orders in the EHR; assist with billing documentation.
• Schedule diagnostic tests and verify insurance and authorizations.
• Identify OSHA issues and ensure PHI is safeguarded.
