Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a Cardiovascular Specialist Lead for the invasive cardiology lab. The role supports diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, mentors staff, and ensures safety and equipment readiness.

You may be assigned to the Einstein or Moses campus based on patient care needs. Requirements include a science/tech bachelor's degree, 2 years scrub experience in invasive CV procedures (or RCIS/RCES with 1 year), and BLS/ACLS certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science, math or technology required.
• 2 years scrub experience in invasive CV procedures or 1 year with RCIS/RCES.
• BLS and ACLS required; RCIS/RCES or RT credentials accepted.
• Knowledge of cardiac cath and peripheral vascular tools and devices.

Responsibilities

• Assists with diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic procedures including angioplasty, stent, atherectomy, TAVR and device implantation.
• Mentors, trains and provides guidance to technical staff.
• Assists in scheduling and resolves coverage issues.
• Serves as a resource on sterile technique and use/maintenance of supplies and equipment.

Overview

The Special Procedural Technologist, Lead, Cardiovascular is an essential member of the invasive cardiology lab team with a high degree of responsibility. The Cardiovascular Specialist must be able to work well in an interdisciplinary team and in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to employ critical thinking skills and be patient safety focused.

Responsibilities

• Assists with diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to: peripheral and coronary angioplasty/stent, atherectomy, laser, coronary ultrasound, temporary cardiac assist devices, mitral clip, TAVR, ablations, device implantation, lead and device extraction/explant.


• Mentors, trains and provides guidance to technical staff.


• Assists in scheduling and resolving coverage issues.


• The Cardiovascular Specialist is a resource for staff and physicians on sterile technique and the use/maintenance of supplies and equipment used in routine and complex cases.


• The Cardiovascular Specialist will be assigned at the Einstein or Moses campus based on patient care needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in science/math/technology field required; Bachelor's degree in CV Technology preferred.


• 2 years of experience scrubbing in for invasive cardiac and/or vascular (CV) procedures, or 1 year of experience scrubbing in on invasive CV procedures and RCIS or RCES certification required


• BLS and ACLS required.


• Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCIS or RCES), or RT (R, CI) or other deemed acceptable certification or degree (Foreign Trained Medical Doctorate with deemed appropriate experience will be considered).


• Knowledge of Cardiac Catheterization and Peripheral Vascular: FFR, Laser, IVUS Hemodynamic Monitoring System, Impella, PHP, Point of Care (AVOx, ACT, ABG), Fluoroscopy System, atherctomy devices, IABP, various vascular closure devices.


• Knowledge of Arrhythmias: 3D mapping systems, Hemodynamic Monitoring System (PRUKA), laser, device programmers, stimulators and various ablation systems (cooling, RF).
