Responsibilities

• Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and policies.
• Orders and processes laboratory requests per procedures.
• Collects and processes paperwork ensuring proper reporting.
• Assists in ordering, maintaining, and restocking supplies.
• Answers telephone and directs inquiries.
• Utilizes Laboratory Information System as appropriate.
• Disinfects and maintains work areas.
• Assists in preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Operates and troubleshoots laboratory equipment with direction.
• Performs pre-analytic non-technical test setup.
• Assists in orientation and training of students and fellows.
• Performs waived testing as directed by department leadership.
• Complies with safety policies and procedures.
• Complies with state and federal regulations.
• Performs Cytology related prep and staining tasks.
• Assists in gross specimen procedures and pathology slide handling.
• Reviews specimen test selection and performs microbiology specimen setup.
• Picks up blood samples and delivers components; manages inventory.
• Assists in Transfusion Services as directed.
• Performs reference lab specimen send outs and readiness for testing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
