Under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, when assigned to an inpatient practice area, performs drug distribution duties, pre-packaging, maintains inventory in Pyxis medstations (filling, checking for outdates), IV and chemotherapy sterile compounding, record keeping (refrigerator temperature logs, hood cleaning), billing, housekeeping, and security functions.

Schedule:

Varied hours, including weekends and holidays, depending on department needs. This role requires floating within multiple areas of the Pharmacy department.

Hourly Salary Rate:

$35.20 (Standard Per Diem Rate)

Qualifications

• California Pharmacy Technician license - Required.
• 2 years of inpatient pharmacy experience - Highly preferred.
• Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical generic and trade names, dosage forms, and ability to cross-reference common drugs from memory.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical abbreviations.
• Skill in preparing intravenous solutions using aseptic technique.
• Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
• Skill in computer order entry and report generation related to medication orders.
• Effective communication skills with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other health professionals.
• Ability to compound chemotherapy solutions following departmental guidelines for cytotoxic agents.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and push 50 lbs.
