Job Summary

The Medical Infusion Center (MIC) at Massachusetts General Hospital is a multispecialty outpatient clinic offering infusion therapies delivered by an expert team, enhancing patients’ quality of life through exceptional care. Infusions play an important role in the treatment of many diseases. The MIC at Mass General provides infusion-based therapies for patients in Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Rheumatology and other clinics. The MIC serves established patients who see physicians at Mass General. Our highly-trained care team offers infusion therapies designed to meet individual patients’ needs with care and compassion.

Qualifications

Under the direction of the Nursing Director, the Infusion RN is to provide clinical care with a primary focus on medical infusion.

  1. Provides safe, efficient and compassionate patient care to all medical infusion patients.
  2. Develop an ongoing implementation of therapy plan, education and counseling of patients and loved ones.
  3. Practice according to ANA and INS standards of care.
  4. Attends and participates in team meetings.
  5. Documents relevant patient information and current plan in EMR.
  6. Performs a nursing assessment and formulates an individual plan of care for assigned patients.
  7. Prioritize and initiate specific nursing interventions based on ongoing assessment and update the care plan as needed.
  8. Performs technical skills (i.e. VAD access, venipuncture) accurately, per policy.
  9. Participates and collaborates with nursing colleagues and other providers to deliver patient care in a timely manner.

Additional Job Details (if applicable)

The per diem infusion RN can be scheduled for 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts depending on clinic needs, and is required to work at least 5 Saturday clinics in a calendar year.
