Job summary

Trinity Health MI is seeking a part-time Security Officer to ensure a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors. Duties include patrolling parking areas, assisting with escorts, and mitigating security incidents with non-violent methods. Per diem position with rotating shifts.

Requires a high school diploma or GED, Michigan driver’s license, and de-escalation/communication skills. Training in CPI, PPCT, and other defensive tactics will be provided. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months in a customer service-related role with strong communication and de-escalation skills.
• Valid State of Michigan driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to complete training in Chemical Agent Sprays, handcuffs/restraints, PPCT, CPI and other defensive tactics.
• No criminal record.
• Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management or related field.
• Preferred: 1 year of experience in police/public safety/security roles.

Responsibilities

• Intervenes with disorderly individuals using non-violent crisis intervention first.
• Assists nursing staff with clinical ordered patient restraints and management of combative patients.
• Performs vehicle parking lot patrols and provides security escorts as assigned.
• Greets, directs and assists customers, visitors, patients and staff across Trinity Health facilities.
• Assists with way finding and escorts to and from locations as needed.
• Assists with location and delivery of wheelchairs on request.
• Provides information to staff about security issues based on observation.
• Interviews involved individuals and documents incidents for security reports.
• Responds to alarms and provides needed assistance.
• Coordinates activities with co-workers to maintain a positive team environment.
• May carry chemical agent spray after authorization and training.
