Job summary

Hospice of New Mexico is seeking a PRN Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families in Las Cruces. You’ll join our Interdisciplinary Team to honor all faiths and beliefs, offering comfort, guidance, and grief support as life’s moments unfold.

Qualified candidates hold a seminary degree (BD/MDiv or equivalent), plus one CPE unit. Interfaith sensitivity, hospice experience, EMR proficiency, and a valid driver’s license are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited seminary (BD/MDiv) or equivalent theological degree, or pastoral ministry certification.
• One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) strongly preferred.
• Comfortable in interfaith settings and able to honor diverse beliefs.
• Experience providing spiritual care in hospice, hospital, or community health setting preferred.
• Ability to handle stress associated with ministering to patients, families, and loved ones.
• Computer proficiency, including EMR usage.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Spanish-speaking skills preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess and address spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families as part of the interdisciplinary care plan.
• Provide spiritual counseling, comfort, and guidance for individuals and families of all faiths and belief systems.
• Offer grief and bereavement support throughout the hospice journey and after loss.
• Collaborate with the Program Director and care team to coordinate spiritual care and ensure holistic support.
• Communicate effectively with hospice staff and community partners to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and agency policies.
