Job summary

The Shores, a United Methodist Communities (UMC) community in Newton, NJ, is seeking a Per Diem Homemaker. The position offers $17.24 per hour, based on experience, with per diem shifts from early morning to evening to meet resident needs.

You will prepare meals, accommodate dietary requests, assist residents at meals, and help maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety. The role supports a caring, mission-driven team with strong employee benefits and opportunities for training.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to complete ServSafe course and obtain certificate.
  • Willingness to complete Dining Assistant Training course.
  • 1+ year of related work experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve quality meals and snacks while following menus, recipes, dietary needs, and food safety regulations
  • Accommodate special diets and food substitutions to meet residents' nutritional and personal preferences
  • Encourage resident input on food choices, menus, and meal presentation
  • Assist residents with eating and dining support according to training and care guidelines
  • Follow sanitation, food handling, and temperature monitoring procedures to ensure safety and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen; monitor equipment and report maintenance needs
  • Manage grocery inventory and perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning resident rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas
