Job summary

Mount Sinai Chelsea is seeking a Per Diem RN in Hematology Oncology to provide comprehensive patient care, including assessment, planning, and intervention. The role emphasizes collaboration with the care team and patient education to support informed decisions.

Responsibilities include nursing assessments, updating progress notes, discharge planning, educating patients, mentoring staff, and acting as a preceptor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
• ADN RN matriculated in a BSN program with graduation date within the year.
• Documented previous experience or educational preparation to support credentials.
• Current RN License in New York.
• ACLS certification required for specific departments.
• BCLS certification required.
• ONS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments based on interview, examination, observation, and review of patient records.
• Ensure patient progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Plan discharge consistent with the patient’s status and inter‑departmental communication.
• Communicate information to patients based on their level of awareness and readiness to learn.
• Support orientation of new staff by providing feedback and acting as a preceptor.
• Function as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
• Organize provision of care to meet priority needs of patients and unit.
• Communicate patient conditions requiring additional intervention to leadership.
• Participate in the development of other staff members.
• Reflect collaborative efforts in meeting patient and unit needs through communication.
