Job summary

Baystate Health is hiring an Emergency Department Technician for Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. This full-time role (36 hours/week) features day shifts from 7am to 7:30pm, with 12-hour shifts and alternating weekends/holidays.

You will work with ED physicians and nurses to provide safe, compassionate care and document patient data in the EMR. Applicants should have GED or HiSET and relevant certifications listed in the Education section.

Emergency Department Technician: – Emergency Department Emergency Department Technician in Springfield, MA | Baystate Health Careers Department: Emergency Location: Baystate Medical Center, Springfield Massachusetts Job Type: Full-Time Shift: Days Make an Impact with Baystate Health Baystate Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) to join our Emergency Department team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Emergency Department team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care.

Emergency Department Technician Responsibilities Include:
  • Patient Care & Monitoring: Provides safe, compassionate, age-appropriate care; obtains and documents vital signs, intake/output, specimens, and other patient measurements; promptly reports changes in condition.
  • Clinical Procedures & Testing: Performs phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, dressing changes, and other approved clinical procedures in accordance with BMC policies.
  • Treatment & Provider Support: Assists RNs and providers with patient care, examinations, treatments, procedures, and emergency situations within the assigned scope of practice.
  • Communication & Documentation: Communicates effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team and accurately documents patient care, observations, treatments, and testing in the EMR.
  • Patient Safety & ED Operations: Maintains a safe, clean patient environment and collaborates with the healthcare team to support patient safety, teamwork, and efficient Emergency Department patient flow.

  • Job Type: Full-Time, 36 hours per week
  • Shift: Day, 7am-7:30pm
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday and Sunday
  • Holiday Requirements: Every other Holiday
