Job summary

The Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Leesburg, VA is seeking a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line emergency team. You’ll work with doctors on triage, treatments, monitoring, and compassionate care for emergencies in a fast-paced hospital.

You’ll use IVs, anesthesia, imaging, and critical care skills while supporting pet parents during stressful moments. We offer flexible night/weekend shifts and a competitive hourly range to fit your life.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located is required; VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia is a plus
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; experience in emergency or specialty medicine preferred
• Basic computer skills and understanding of practice management software and EMR systems
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; ready to lend a hand to support those around you
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, lift up to 25 kg alone and up to 40 kg with assistance
• Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong odors; nights, weekends, and holidays required

Responsibilities

• Treat every patient and person like they matter; support tests, treatments, and care
• Jump into action delivering nursing care, treatments, and emotional support from triage to discharge
• Perform IVs, CRIs, blood transfusions and related monitoring
• Communicate as a teammate and contribute to care plans and workflow
• Be prepared to perform CPR and participate in RECOVER training
• Handle diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tubing placement
• Provide anesthesia support, including for fragile patients
• Utilize advanced techniques such as central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds
